Charles Armitage
Dr. Charles Armitage is the co-founder and CEO of Florence, an app that connects health and social care professionals with flexible work & training. Charles launched Florence in 2016 after witnessing the care staffing crisis first hand while working as a surgeon in NHS hospitals across South London. Frustrated by the lack of control over where and when he could work, as well as the challenges of adapting to new workplaces, Charles sought to create a tech-driven solution to empower care professionals and improve the staffing process.
Under his leadership, Florence has transformed the way healthcare organisations fill rota gaps by offering a faster, more cost-effective platform for accessing trusted professionals—either from their own teams or Florence’s extensive pool of vetted care workers. Today, Florence supports over 5,000 healthcare organizations and connects more than 100,000 nurses, carers, and support workers across the UK, France, and Canada.
Driven by a passion for improving patient care and empowering the healthcare workforce, Charles continues to innovate in the healthtech space, working to make healthcare staffing more efficient and flexible for all involved.
