Session announcement: Technology and CQC

Session announcement: Technology and CQC
Join Charlie Jones of BKR Care Consultancy to learn about the changes CQC is making, what inspectors are looking for, and how to protect your service.

Technology is becoming an ever-greater part of our lives, and the social care sector is no exception. Providers are increasingly turning to technology to make their services more efficient and effective, save time-poor carers valuable minutes, and even pick up mistakes so they can be fixed quickly.

But it’s not just providers who are looking to technology: the regulator is too. As CQC digitises its services, the requirements for care managers are changing, with the currently optional online portal for submitting evidence becoming mandatory, and CQC beginning remote inspections. It appears that ultimately, in-person inspections will only be conducted for services at risk of being downgraded.

Therefore, it’s important to understand what CQC’s digitisation programme entails, how it will affect you, and what you should be doing to prepare yourself and your staff so you’re not caught out.

Charlie, clinical and care director at BKR Care Consultancy, has written a brilliant blog post for us explaining some of CQC’s plans – read it here.

Then bring your questions along to the Technology Theatre to:

  • Learn what the CQC means by 'good digital records'
  • Hear what inspectors are looking for during visits
  • Discover how to mitigate the risks that can appear during digitisation
  • Learn how to pilot and implement a new digital system in line with CQC expectations

And if you’re interested in technology, you’ll also like Skills for Care’s session on digital leadership and implementing change, running twice on each day in Care CPD Theatre 2.
