Session announcement: I’m a technophobe, get me out of here!
Friday 30 June only
Digitisation is high on the agenda in the social care sector, but many care providers remain reluctant to embrace technology.
According to NHS England: “Approximately 30% of social care providers are partially digitised, with a further 30% still using entirely paper based systems.”
This is understandable – care managers have an enormous amount on their plates already, and properly digitising requires a large investment of money and time. However, with CQC increasingly requiring digital records and introducing mandatory reporting through its online portal, the time for delaying has passed.
In this session, NHS digital experts will join ex-technophobes along with front-runners in the world of social care digitisation, to discuss their experiences and share their top tips.
- Tommy Henderson Reay, Registered social worker - Digitising Social Care (NHS)
- Jonathan Cunningham MBE, Chair & founder - Care Managers’ Inner Circle
- Beccy Incledon-Blevin, Community services manager - Parkhaven Trust
- Paula Dodman, Head of Operations (North West) - Community Integrated Care
- Katie Thorn, Project lead - Digital Social Care
In particular, our care managers will be discussing:
- Why they made the change;
- How they decided what to do;
- What would they have done differently; and
- How they got their staff on board with digitalisation
If you’re looking at those statistics at the top of this page and thinking you might currently be in the wrong group, do something about it now. Join our session, and within 45 minutes you’ll have a stronger understanding of the process of digitisation, and feel more confident to change things – one step at a time.
And you might also like Skills for Care’s session in the Technology theatre on Digital Leadership, which is all about how to manage the process of introducing technology, using data to inform your decisions and keeping residents and relatives on board.
